MEET THE DESIGNER
Sam Hunt
I have been working in precious metals since the age of twelve. After a BA (Hons) in 3D Design (Metal) at Brunel University, I followed up with a Post-Graduate Research Certificate in Education and Manufacturing from Sheffield Hallam University.
My commissions have included Ergo cutlery bought by the King of Dubai, design work for Garrard the Crown Jewellers, and pieces featured in Elle Decoration, GQ and the FT “How To Spend It”.
MATERIALS & CRAFTSMANSHIP
Designed around the Golden Section
Every Xing Design piece employs the theme of the Golden Section and the Fibonacci number sequence, giving proportion and an obvious angle within the work. Pieces are hand-finished in contrasting shiny and matt tonal areas, expressing the natural surface qualities of the metal rather than hiding it under a patina or lacquer. The Ergo cutlery is made in the home of British cutlery, Sheffield, and so too is the hallmarking of the silverwares.
QUESTIONS
Frequently asked questions
Can I use my own stones or metal?
Yes. Many commissions redesign and re-use a customer’s own diamonds, emeralds or precious stones, and Sam has worked from metal supplied by clients, including gold coins.
How much does a piece cost?
Every piece is priced individually and quoted on request (POA), so please get in touch with your idea and Sam will advise.
Are the pieces hallmarked?
The silverwares are hallmarked in Sheffield, the home of British cutlery. All products by Xing Design are Design Registered.
Do you carry out repairs and watch servicing?
Yes. As well as bespoke commissions, Sam offers jewellery repairs and watch servicing from the Lincolnshire workshop.
